Abstract: Image-based patient-specific models of left ventricular (LV) electro-mechanics show high promise as a novel approach to comprehensively characterize cardiovascular function in a given patient. While such computational models are becoming efficient enough to be compatible with clinical time frames, a key challenge is the specialization of models based on available clinical data which requires complex parameterization procedures. This talk deals with the development of a robust and automated procedure for parameterizing LV afterload as represented by the three-element Windkessel model of the arterial system using clinically recorded hemodynamic data as input.
